SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL VARIATION IN THE SUPPLY LEVEL OF ELDERLY SERVICES BY MULTIPLE AGENTS AND ITS INFLUENCING FACTORS

Aim: Based on the National Statistical Yearbook, this study examines the supply level of elderly services in 31 provinces and urban areas of China and constructs a multidimensional evaluation index system for the level of services provided by the government, families, and social organizations. Methods: We used the entropy method, standard deviation ellipse model, fixed-effects model, and other horizontal and spatial analysis methods to analyse the spatial and temporal patterns of variation in the development level of elderly service supply and the influencing factors of 31 provincial units in China during 2014-2018. Results: We found the overall supply level of elderly services in China to be low, and the development of supply subjects and supply regions in the process of development as unbalanced and inadequate, with significant internal structural differences. Besides, the geographical distribution concentrated in the east and the center. Conclusion: This study explores the spatial and temporal variation of the supply level of multiple actors in China’s elderly services and its influencing factors, as well as provides policy reference for the coordinated development of elderly services.References
