Abstract

This study investigates the difficulties faced by native Uyghur speakers in learning Putonghua and proposes corresponding teaching strategies. Through contrastive analysis, the study examines the systematic differences between Uyghur and Chinese at four levels: phonology, lexis, grammar, and pragmatics. These difficulties are primarily attributed to negative transfer from the mother tongue, insufficient language input outside the classroom, and individual learner differences. The study recommends targeted teaching strategies, including systematic tone awareness training, comparative pronunciation instruction using vowel charts, development of contrastive teaching materials, optimization of classroom interaction, and enhanced teacher training. This study provides practical implications for Putonghua instruction among the Uyghur population.
